Action: Confronting the fossil fuel economy

At about midday, members of London Rising Tide (in support of the 'Plane Stupid' short haul callout) entered the CAA building (in Kingsway London WC2), and asked to see their Chairman Sir Roy McNulty to present him with a copy of the Tyndall Centre report on aviation and climate change.

Three grassroots professors of Climatology: Herb Garrett from Proper Climatology Innit Inc, Winston O'Boogie from Whither Science Bona Fide, and Wolfgang Lumpenback from Klimate Kaos Kosher, persuaded his PA to accept the science report and she promised to reply in writing to London Rising Tide.

NRT Spoof action - Build the NDR: Concrete is freedom!

Posing as members of the fictional Coalition for Roads And Progress (C.R.A.P), and brandishing placards bearing slogans such as ‘Re-tarmac the streets!', ‘Oil is Good for the Planet’, ‘The NDR – an industrial paradise’ and ‘Walking is a Waste of Time!’, we held a series of mock press conferences outside the Forum in Norwich city centre. Rossport Solidarity Rolling Shell Blockade
On 24th January London Rising Tide once again helped their friends at Rhythms of Resistance Samba Band and others keep Shell aware that the campaign to prevent the
Damaging high pressure gas pipeline and refinery near Rossport in County Mayo, Ireland is still rolling.

…and rolling is what it was, with even a bit of rocking. We tried the new tactic with measured success of short spells at a series of North London Shell garages blockading the entrance and exits with band, banners and bandanas (there was also mention of bananas when it came to irate drivers).

July 15th was an 'International Day of Direct Action for Climate Justice, against Climate Change and the G8' called in part by Rising Tide North America.
