Action: Confronting the fossil fuel economy
News from RISING TIDE ECUADOR (MAREA CRECIENTE)
Rising Tide-Ecuador (Marea Creciente) is opening its way as the newest member of our International Network by joining forces with other grassroots groups, which includes the Ecuadorian indigenous movement.
"Mining industry out!"
First, to resist the big fossil fuel national battle against mining on a large scale, which is an aggressive project that the ecuadorian assembly and government are trying to put forward.

Oil goliath BP, already forced to postpone its centenary party at the British Museum on April 1st, (also known as Fossil Fools Day[1]), has rescheduled the event for May 6th. Art Not Oil[2], the group behind the original demonstration against its 'tarnished centenary', will be throwing 'A Wake for BP' as guests arrive at the British Museum between 6pm and 7pm on the new date.
NRT Rat Race
To mark Buy Nothing Day, activists from Norwich Rising Tide held a Rat Race in the Norwich city centre.
The busiest high street in Norwich was today full of rats. The rats were equipped with placards reading Work Harder, Earn More Money, Buy More Things, Keep Going, and leaflets telling people to join the consumption Rat Race. The reverse of the leaflet, revealed the spoof and informed people that today was buy nothing day and perhaps they should consider the environmental and social consequences of excessive consumption.

Australian power station shut down by six hour protest
29 people were arrested after a climate change protest by Rising Tide Australia at Bayswater power station in New South Wales on 1 November. Four people locked themselves to machinery (the conveyer belt and its motor), stopping the conveyor belts that carry coal to Bayswater’s furnaces while about 25 others occupied the coal piles.
Spokesperson, Georgina Woods, said, “Australia’s greenhouse pollution is still increasing and our addiction to coal-fired power is the main cause. We are here because every day we hesitate, we are killing the Great Barrier Reef.”
Rising Tiders target Royal Bank of Scotland during Climate Camp
On the Friday of the Camp for Climate Action, four intrepid Rising Tiders left the site to bring the battle over a new power station at Kingsnorth to the doorstep of the Royal Bank of Scotland, which is one of E.ON's biggest financial backers, and to highlight the links between the financial sector, the fossil fuel industry, and disastrous climate change.
Two people superglued themselves to the front doors of the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Oil and Gas Division in Central London, while others wielded a banner reading “RBS: Cashing In On Coal”.

Rising Tiders across the country are decamping en masse to the Camp for Climate Action, and we can't wait! Cleaners blockade Eon's offices in London
CLEANING COMPANY TARGET E.ON ON NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION
At 07.45 this morning E.ON offices on Pall Mall were targeted by the new
upstart Coal Cleaning Company as part of a nationally co-ordinated Day of Climate Action against False Capitalist Solutions.
The Coal Cleaning Company launched their enterprise with E.ON as their
first customer. According to the chatty cleaners, “There’s no mess too
big! We make coal Fossil Fuel Fresh ™”.
