As part of the day of action against the root causes of climate change on Friday 8th of July, we will be Ceildhing on the Clyde. This is in opposition to the M74 extension, that will cut through the heart of Glasgow and increase carbon burning traffic. It is also an expression of solidarity with people fighting the root causes of climate change everywhere.

The Art Not Oil exhibition was mounted onto a sturdy trike on June 13th and ridden gently through the rush-houred streets of central London. The destination was the National Portrait Gallery, which was hosting the presentation ceremony for the BP Portrait Award.

Reading Rising Tide will be taking action against air travel as part of the international day of action against Climate Change to coincide with the G8 meeting in Scotland.
Aviation is fastest growing contributor to climate change, already it contributes to 3.5% Global Warming. This is predicted to grow to 50% if unchecked.
Tony Blair says that climate change is the biggest issue we face, yet the government is pushing ahead with the biggest new road-building scheme since the '90s. It simply doesn't add up.

Beyond Oil booklet
This new 32 page A5 booklet brings together background info on oil and conflict, repressive regimes, development, oil industry workers, and climate change. Together with info on the revolving doors and mutual support between the oil industry, government and the International Financial Institutions which fund new oil projects, it lays out the UK’s involvement in the oil curse, and the action we can take to challenge it.
Activists from Reading Rising Tide protested the absence of Climate Changes from the election agenda. A Banner was held up and flyers distributed at the entrance to the Rivermead leisure centre where the count for the Reading East and West seats where held.
