Welcome to London Rising Tide
London Rising Tide (LRT) takes creative action on the root causes of climate chaos, and promotes socially just, ecological alternatives to the fossil fuel madness that we're living through. It's part of the wider Rising Tide UK and international networks, and seeks to be part of a growing European and worldwide movement of groups working to dismantle the oil industry and live the future we want to see right now. Find out more about what we stand for.
Contact us to find out when we meet at the London Action Resource Centre (LARC), which is at 62 Fieldgate Street, London E1, Whitechapel tube, on the corner of Fieldgate Street and Parfett Street. We elcome new people, there's plenty to do, including helping run the office, making banners, doing talks & stalls, helping with actions, designing websites & leaflets etc. Some people in the group stick with just one of these tasks, while others work on several. We'd love to hear from you, whether you've only got half an hour a fortnight to spare, or entire days to put in.

We hope this site inspires you to get active to combat oil, war and climate breakdown, (not to mention car culture, dams,aviation, nukes, industrial forest plantations etc.), whether that be with us, with your own group or by yourself. Since there's no such thing as an ethical or sustainable oil company, they and the many companies and institutions in their orbit are all worthy of our creative attention. Santas Against Excessive Consumption invade Oxford Street
On Saturday, the busiest shopping day of the year, activists from London Rising Tide dressed up as Santas and elves and invaded Oxford Street to make the point that excessive Christmas consumption is causing climate chaos.
BP Greenwash Extravaganza

Seen those BP ads on TV and in the Press? Impressed that the oil giant is getting the message on climate change? Think Again. BP is also running a big advertising campaign in the US to coincide with the Montreal climate talks. Both versions have the same graphics, the same nifty tune, the same style. But where as we Brits are told to “work out your carbon footprint – it’s a start”, the American consumer is told: “We’re investing $15bn in finding new oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico – it’s a start.”

Here's a report from a London Rising Tider with a single Shell share, who went into its Annual General Meeting, while others quietly infiltrated the hotel or stayed outside to leaflet and chat to shareholders and passers-by. The main meeting took place in The Hague, with a video feed to London, or the Novotel Hammersmith, to be precise. Keep an eye on Indymedia for reports of how others got on outside...
