London Rising Tide (LRT) takes creative action on the root causes of climate chaos, and promotes socially just, ecological alternatives to the fossil fuel madness that we're living through. It's part of the wider Rising Tide UK and international networks, and seeks to be part of a growing European and worldwide movement of groups working to dismantle the oil industry and live the future we want to see right now. Contact us to find out when we meet at the London Action Resource Centre (LARC), which is at 62 Fieldgate Street, London E1, Whitechapel tube, on the corner of Fieldgate Street and Parfett Street. We elcome new people, there's plenty to do, including helping run the office, making banners, doing talks & stalls, helping with actions, designing websites & leaflets etc. Some people in the group stick with just one of these tasks, while others work on several. We'd love to hear from you, whether you've only got half an hour a fortnight to spare, or entire days to put in.

The 28th Annual Arts & Business Awards gala ceremony was held at the (BP-sponsored) Barbican Centre in London on Monday April 3rd 2006. It consisted of free drinks, schmoozing, mutual pat-on-the-backs concerning the 21st Century snake oil that is 'Corporate Social Responsibility', followed by an vain attempt to raise the tone with a performance by the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO).
The Greenwish Guerrillas struck again yesterday at the opening of the BP-sponsored ‘Michelangelo Drawings - Closer to the Master’ exhibition.

This is the statement written jointly by members of London Rising Tide, and read out at the December 3rd 2005 rally outside the US Bombassy in London:
This day of action is undoubtedly the best supported and most international day of action on climate ever planned, which is an amazing achievement. Today’s a day to tell the world that we have had enough of being told that ‘the end could be nigh’ by scientists, only to see our leaders jamming their foot on the accelerator of a car that is already hurtling towards the cliff edge - whilst they shout ‘Trust me – I have your best interests at heart!’
And whilst today is a great achievement, maybe we should be asking ourselves some difficult questions, and re-examining our arguments and our tactics.
On November 10th 1995, Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight Ogoni colleagues were hung by the Nigerian state for campaigning against the devastation of the Niger Delta by oil companies, especially Shell and Chevron.
On the eve of the tenth anniversary of this execution, activists from London Rising Tide, Rhythms of Resistance, Rossport Solidarity Camp and London Earth First! came together to take action against Shell for its activities in Nigeria, in Ireland and worldwide.
On Friday 30th September, those who joined London's monthly Critical Mass ride, found themselves being issued with letters from the Metropolitan Police, threatening arrests at future Critical Mass rides, unless the 'organisers' give notice of the route at least six days in advance, and warning that the police can impose restrictions on the rides once the advance notice has been given.The letter stated that the police are reviewing their 'policy' towards critcal mass.
A callout has been issued to make October's London Critical Mass the biggest one yet.

In a bid to add muscle to claims of being a 'green force', many vanloads of London's Metropolitan Police will be present at BP's Annual General Meeting from 10.15am on April 14th. They will be joining forces with little-known group the Greenwash Guerrillas to ensure that the public are kept out of the newly-renamed Oil Festival Hall[1] during BP's Annual General Meeting.
